A code-share flight is one airline sells tickets under its name for a flight operated by a partner airline. For instance, Air China flight CA 8851, from Chicago to Beijing, is a code share flight with United Airlines flight crew on a United Airlines aircraft. That same flight has a United flight number UA 851. By entering into code share agreements, carriers do not have to cover every route to benefit from the volume of passengers. These agreements may allow passengers to earn frequent flyer mileages between airlines depending on the types of alliances. Generally, flight numbers below 1999 are not code-share flights. Code-share flights usually have high flight numbers, for example, higher than 6000. ___________________________________________________________ Any questions?
